With Spring Break upon us, it's a great time for families to spend time together and there's no better way to do that than by being active! While the kids are out of school, take advantage of the break to get out and get moving!
Here are some ideas for how to get closer through healthy activity!
Ice skating. The ice will soon come out of many arenas in our area. This is a great time to get one last family skate in before the great summer thaw. Check your community activity guide for a local schedule or here's a link to the skating schedule at Eight Rinks in Burnaby.
Swimming. Many public pools have special schedules for Spring Break and open up during weekdays for kids and families. Canada Games Pool even has special St. Patrick's Day and Superhero special events planned. Check their schedule here.
Biking. With the beautiful weather we've been having, it's a great time to dust off your bikes. Visit our neighbours at Cap's Bicycle Shop if you are in need of any accessories or a tune-up. (Don't forget your helmets!)
Hiking. BC Parks includes two Lower Mainland trails in their list of the top ten family hikes in BC. Check out Yew Lake Trail in Cypress Park or Lower Falls Trail in Golden Ears Park.
Seawall. Whether on foot or by bicycle, the Seawall at Stanley Park provides natural beauty no matter the time of year. With plenty of potential stops along the way, pack a lunch and plan for a whole day adventure!
Whatever you do, enjoy your time together. Happy Spring Break-ing!
