What is Manual Therapy?

Manual therapy refers to any and all forms of “hands-on” treatment provided by a physical therapist (or other trained professional) with the intent of restoring range of motion, modulating pain, changing muscle function, or to reduce soft tissue swelling, inflammation or movement restrictions. This can include the movement of specific joints to restore movement (joint mobilizations), passive movements, muscle stretching, massage or myofascial release techniques, and resisted movements to encourage proper muscle activation and timing. Do I Need Manual Therapy?

At Royal City Physio, our physiotherapists are trained and experienced in treating a large variety of conditions including: back and neck pain, whiplash, arthritis, sciatica, sports injuries and postural pain to name just a few. Our therapists will thoroughly assess your injury to determine the exact cause and then decide which manual therapy technique is appropriate for you and your injury.
