Manual Therapy

What is Manual Therapy?

Manual therapy refers to any and all forms of “hands-on” treatment provided by a physical therapist (or other trained professional) with the intent of restoring range of motion, modulating pain, changing muscle function, or to reduce soft tissue swelling, inflammation or movement restrictions. This can include the movement of specific joints to restore movement (joint mobilizations), passive movements, muscle stretching, massage or myofascial release techniques, and resisted movements to encourage proper muscle activation and timing.
