ACUTE & CHRONIC INJURY CARE

At Royal City Physio our therapists specialize in treating both acute and chronic injuries. Whether you have fallen and sprained your ankle or knee or have an ongoing pain that has been lingering for months, we can help you!

Acute Injuries

Everyone has heard of P.R.I.C.E. (Protect, Rest, Ice, Compress, Elevate) to address an acute injury that is painful, swollen and hot, but did you know that there are many other things that physiotherapy can do to help speed this recovery process up?  Depending on the injury, it is very important that range of motion is restored as quickly as possible to the affected tissue or joint to prevent stiffness.  We employ many manual techniques in addition to prescribing specific exercises to help achieve this.  The use of modalities such as ultrasound or various electrotherapy tools can also often help rid the area of swelling more quickly.  Every injury is different so a detailed examination will let our therapists best determine the best treatment plan for you.

Chronic Injuries

Chronic injuries can often be a result of musculoskeletal asymmetry, repetitive trauma or overuse injuries.  Clients who have had a recurring injury or an injury that has lasted for a prolonged period of time, have an increased risk of this injury occurring again in this affected area.  Our physiotherapists will look at all of the causative factors and design a specific program incorporating mobility, functional strength and stabilization drills to help prevent these injuries from returning.

"Karen, Jamey, Davin and crew are simply: The Best. Whether rehabing a sports, work or car accident related injury, or working on specific goals, you will receive world class care. Run...don’t walk (unless running is the problem, in which case let them help!)."
