2018 is going to a be a good year for all of us, especially if we learn how to properly take care of ourselves. Here’s a list of habits you can implement to help you prepare for a good 2018:
1. Find a Productive Outlet to Reduce Stress
It is very unhealthy to hold onto stress. Take some time this month to explore different ways of letting go, so that you can begin to reduce your stress in 2018. For example: walk home from work instead of taking your car – breathe in the fresh air, take an art class, add some meditation to your daily routine: find a way to alleviate your stress, whatever works for you (and that’s not binging on Netflix every night).
2. Book That Physical You’ve Been Putting Off
Your health is important, no matter where you rank it on your personal priority list. Make an appointment with your GP or go to a clinic, and get your annual checkup done. It will do more for your piece of mind than anything else, and will help you re-connect with your body.
3. Make Specific Exercise Goals
Do you want to run 5 km by the end of 2018? Do you want to be able to touch your toes? Do you want to go to yoga every other day?
These are just some examples of how you can make specific fitness goals that will help you keep accountable over the next 12 months. Don’t try to achieve them right away, give yourself time to accomplish them and try to be diligent about implementing the changes that are required to accomplish them.
4. Listen to Your Body
You are the expert of your body - if something feels wrong or ‘off’, don’t let it stew until it is too late. Be proactive and search out the professional help you need to help your body get back to its optimal functioning self.
5. Book a Physiotherapy Appointment
