Healthy Hydrating (July): Green and Fruity Smoothie

Have you been thinking of joining in on the 'green smoothie' trend but can't quite imagine drinking straight vegetables? This 'Green and Fruity' smoothie recipe is the perfect way to begin introducing some green into your morning smoothie without diving right into the straight vegetable trend.

What you'll need:

- 2 cups of fresh spinach

- 2 cups water

- 1 cup of mango

- 1 cup of pineapple

- 2 bananas

Note: At least one of the fruits should be frozen when added to blender to chill smoothie as there is no ice in this recipe.

The steps:

1. Put spinach, water, mango, pineapple and bananas into blender.

2. Blend all ingredients together until smooth.

This summer smoothie is fresh and filling and has the perfect balance and fruit and vegetables. If you want to get a little more adventurous, try adding just a little more spinach to the mix. Not only is this delicious concoction hydrating, it's a great way to get an extra serving of vegetables in without sacrificing the yumminess of your morning smoothie. This blend is more on the tropical fruits side as these flavours tend to compliment the 'greens' more but you could definitely experiment with throwing in some acai berry, oranges or maybe even strawberries. If you really want this to be nice and cold, add some ice cubes to the mix.
