Jayme Gordon’s 2018 in Review

December 12, 2018

I can’t believe that 2018 is coming to an end already!  It has been yet another great year with the Royal City Physio crew!

Although the year has gone by fast, I made the most of it.  I took some really interesting courses that have helped me become an even more effective physiotherapist.  The first course was focused on different assessment and treatment techniques for the cervical spine.  I really enjoyed it as I got to take it with Karen Nichol and Brendan Paterson, my fellow Royal City Physio therapists.  The second was focused on treatment techniques for the lower back and pelvis, and most recently I took a functional dry needling course, also known as IMS.  I am really looking forward to adding IMS into my future treatment sessions to help get my patients moving!

For the past year and a half I have been working with the Burnaby Lake Rugby Club. This year I had the pleasure of being the head physiotherapist for the women’s premier team.  It has been a great first half of the season.  The women keep me busy on the field and in the clinic.  It has been a pleasure working with them thus far and I’m looking forward to what the second half of the season has in store!

I was lucky enough to get in some travelling this year as well.  The summer was filled with weekend getaways, such as Tofino surf trips, a wedding in Banff, and a road trip to Portland.  I also went to Oliver for the first time and got to take in all the beautiful views by bike as I completed the Aqua Bike portion of the Half Iron Man.  My big trip this year was going to Europe and doing a road trip through Ireland, England, and Wales.  My plan for next year includes travelling to Peru to hike Machu Picchu and hopefully complete another triathlon.
