5 Best Relaxing Walking Paths in and around Vancouver

August 31, 2017

Sometimes you need to give your body and mind a break from your regular routine, and seek out some fresh air and open space. Here’s a list of our top 5 walking trails in Vancouver for those of you on the slower road to recovery:

1. Seawall

Location: Stanley Park, Vancouver

Appeal: This is the perfect walking trail if you want to see the sights of Downtown Vancouver and the beauty of Stanley Park. There's also many attractions along the way if you feel like stopping for lunch or other touristy detours. A word of caution, though, this route can get pretty busy in the summers.

2. Centennial Seawalk

Location: Ambleside to Dundrave, West Vancouver

Appeal: This seaside walking trail gives you a beautiful view of the Burrard Inlet and even Lions Gate Bridge. It is a 1.7 km path that draws both joggers and walkers to enjoy its seaside views. If you are wanting a simple walk with gorgeous atmosphere, this is the option for you.

3. New West Quay Boardwalk

Location: New Westminster

Appeal: This expansive boardwalk stretches along the shores of the Fraser River in downtown New Westminster. The Quay is quickly becoming a cultural hub with features like the shops of Front Street, the River Market and Pier Park, all which are easily accessible from the boardwalk. This is also a great way to transit to as both Columbia skytrain station and New westminster skytrain stations are within walking distance.

4. Deer Lake

Location: Deer Lake, Burnaby

Appeal: Deer Lake is a beautiful park to spend the day at with many activities that are family friendly. The walking trail is on the easier side, but offers a gorgeous atmosphere for a calming stroll around the lake. The trails are accessible all year round and are dog-friendly.

5. Panorama Park

Location: Deep Cove, North Vancouver

Appeal: This walking trail is the shortest on the list but makes up for its length in character. Deep Cove village offers many scumptious spots, such as Honey's Donuts and ice cream shops. The paved path is great for a seaside walk and you could even pair it with the Quarry Rock hike if you're looking for a bit more exercise.
